a voice changer im building myself
VLAB is a voice mod and soundboard app for windows. pitch shifting, a bunch of live effects, tts, a small midi synth, and a ui you can theme. started in python a while ago, rebuilding it in c++ now cause i kept running into limits.

VLAB started out as a pretty basic python soundboard and voice changer. its since turned into VLAB Lite, a c++/JUCE rewrite with a real dsp chain, noise gate, eq, compressor, pitch shifter, distortion, bitcrush, tremolo, stutter, ring mod, chorus, phaser, flanger, auto wah, delay, a limiter so you dont blow anyones ears out, pan/headspace, and reverb. all of it live on your actual voice.
past the fx chain theres a soundboard with recording and hotkeys you can bind per slot, a tts tab that highlights words as it talks, a midi tab with an on screen piano and an arpeggiator, and some visualizers if you like watching the waveform move, spectrum analyzer, goniometer, a weird lil virtual head widget.
ui is fully themeable too, glassmorphism included, plus an rgb mode with rainbow/pulse/strobe/chase if your into that.
- fx chain - pitch, eq, compressor, reverb, plus alot of modulation and glitch fx, all running live
- soundboard - bind a hotkey per slot, double tap to unbind, record straight into a slot
- text to speech - own tab, pick a voice, slide speed/volume/pitch, highlights words as it reads
- midi + synth - on screen piano with macros, arpeggiator handles chords now
- themeable ui - glass toggle, rgb cycling, theme creator if you wanna build your own
- mod sdk - write your own dll audio mods or json theme mods, docs included

how long will VLAB be supported?
ill keep working on it until theres genuinely nothing left to add, improve, or fix. as long as i have ideas, development continues.
why doesnt VLAB have feature x like program y?
because im one person, not a company with a whole team of developers. some features just take a long time to make, please be patient.
has VLAB lite support ended?
mostly. itll still get bug fixes and important maintenance updates, but dont expect major new features there.
will VLAB ever support linux?
nope.
is VLAB supposed to compete with voicemod?
not really. i made VLAB because i wanted something that worked the way i wanted it to.
do you take suggestions?
yep, i read pretty much all of them. just keep them realistic and explain what you actually want, remember im still only one developer.
do you use ai to write VLAB?
a little. i use ai autocomplete sometimes, but its mostly just for speeding up repetitive code. the project is basically 10% ai, 20% me, and 80% youtube tutorials.
why did you make VLAB?
a few reasons:
- voicemod locks too many features behind a paywall
- i dont like equalizer apo
- fl studio wasnt an option for what i wanted
- it was heavily inspired by a small open source soundboard called resonance. (you should download that)
is VLAB open source?
yep. feel free to modify it however you want. i like the linux philosophy of letting people build their own versions and experiment.
can i make mods for VLAB?
absolutely. dm me and ill send you the sdk. im actually looking for people who want to make mods.
does VLAB have rules?
not many. theres a few things id rather people not do with it, but other than that, do whatever you want as long as its legal.
will VLAB ever become paid?
probably not. i want to keep it free, but i cant promise it'll never happen.
will VLAB ever become paid?
probably not. i want to keep it free, but i cant promise it'll never happen.
why does windows say vlab is a virus?
it is most likly a paranoid antivirus. only windows defender flags it.
